A person with low vision or blind is called visually impaired people. Without good eyesight, they are unable to predict the obstacle. Hence, a wearable assistive device which looks like a wristband with three different warning modes was designed to overcome this problem. The warning mode is based on the distance between the obstacle and the user. The distance in the range of 2.01 m to 3.00 m produced a slow beep sound while the distance in the range of 1.01 m to 2.00 m and 0 m to 1.00 m produced medium beep sound and fast beep sound respectively. A hands-on assessment was conducted to ten normal peoples and 90% of them satisfied with the device, which is to prevent from hitting the obstacle above waist level. This device can improve the quality of life for visually impaired people and assist them to walk independently during indoor and outdoor activities fahmimoksen UTM 60 p.
