Abstract

The number of Islamic genre web content had increased significantly throughout the years. Ourprevious initial observation study of 100 Islamic websites had revealed issues pertaining to theusability, user interface and information architecture (IA). As part of an exploratory study and ongoing effort to combat these issues, we had conducted a web-based survey on Muslim online user where 427 usable International respondents were accumulated.
The findings revealed motivating factors and issues pertaining to the usage of Islamic website IA over the internet. We identified five motivating factors which drives Muslim online user on searching and browsing information on the web. In addition, several issues pertaining to the usage of IA in Islamic website had also been identified. Thus, provide indications of the need to conceptualize a framework for the development of Islamic cultural website that cater generally for Muslim online user as a whole.
