description This research examines the relationships among work engagement, work environment, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction among university lecturers in Northern Nigeria. This study emphasizes the importance of these constructs in influencing employee behaviour and improving organizational effectiveness. A non-probability convenience sampling method was utilized to collect data from various lecturers at multiple regional universities, ensuring a thorough representation of the academic workforce. The sampling frame was constructed using updated lists sourced from the Human Resources departments of selected universities, targeting lecturers with at least one year of employment. The findings indicate that organizational commitment significantly mediates work engagement and job satisfaction. This implies that enhancing commitment may result in increased job satisfaction among lecturers. The research highlights the significance of a supportive work environment as crucial for enhancing employee engagement and satisfaction. Engaged employees cultivate a robust sense of commitment and affiliation with their work, improving their overall job satisfaction. This study provides significant insights into employee engagement and satisfaction, specifically in Nigeria's higher education context. This study provides practical implications for university administrators and policymakers, emphasizing the importance of fostering an engaging work environment to promote organizational commitment and improve job satisfaction among lecturers. Understanding the dynamics among these constructs enables institutions to implement strategies that promote a positive workplace culture, resulting in a more committed and satisfied academic workforce.
