Description
Summary:This research examines the influence of emotional intelligence (EI) on job performance in Sarawak's Government-linked Companies (GLCs), with a specific focus on SAINS and SDEC. It also studies the moderating effect of Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) on this relationship. This research utilizes Social Exchange Theory and Role Theory as theoretical frameworks and adopts a quantitative methodology with a sample size of 200 participants which consist of managers, mid-level managers and executives. The data were thoroughly analyzed using SPSS and Partial Least Squares (PLS) to test the stated hypotheses. The study seeks to fill important voids in the current body of research by investigating the impact of Emotional Intelligence (EI) components, including self-awareness, social awareness, selfmanagement, and relationship management, on job performance. Moreover, it explores the role of Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) in influencing the relationship between Emotional Intelligence (EI) and job performance, offering a detailed comprehension of the interaction between leaders and subordinates in improving work results. The results are anticipated to provide useful insights into the utilisation of emotional intelligence to enhance job performance, specifically within the unique cultural and organizational contexts of SAINS and SDEC.
